When Do You Need a Licence?
If your HMO has five or more tenants, you must have a council licence. Requirements include:
- Fire doors, alarms & safety measures
- Adequate kitchen & bathroom facilities
- Minimum room sizes
- Gas & electrical, PAT, Smoke alarm safety certificates
With increased monthly rental prices nationwide, HMO’s are very popular for professional tenants.
